Scale model of the Mercedes F1 W05 Hybrid #44 - the Formula 1 car piloted by the most successful driver of the hybrid era in Formula 1, Lewis Hamilton, in the 2014 season.
The highly detailed miniature car is made of durable, high-quality, non-toxic plastic with metallic elements and is placed on a podium. The tires are made of soft rubber and freely rotate around their axis. If desired, the model can be detached from the podium with a regular screwdriver. An excellent gift for a Formula 1 fan.
The Mercedes F1 W05 Hybrid, initially named "F1 W05," is a highly successful racing car developed and designed by the "AMG Petronas Mercedes-Benz Formula One Team."
The development was led by Aldo Costa, Paddy Lowe, Geoff Willis, and Mike Elliott for participation in the FIA Formula 1 Championship in 2014. The car was driven by the 2008 world champion Lewis Hamilton (#44) and his teammate, the Monégasque Nico Rosberg (#6).
The "F1 W05" was built with a focus on the use of the new 1.6-liter turbocharged hybrid engine, the "Mercedes V6 PU106A Hybrid." The chassis was named "F1 W05 Hybrid" as this racing car became the fifth one created by Mercedes since 2010 in the hybrid era of Formula 1.
The debut took place at the 2014 Australian Grand Prix. Under the control of experienced drivers, the car took an undisputed lead in the championship by the 18th race, bringing another championship title to Hamilton and granting Rosberg the status of a former champion.
The W05 Hybrid had instant and overwhelming success, with Nico Rosberg winning the Australian Grand Prix, and Lewis Hamilton continued to win the races in Malaysia, Bahrain, China, and the Spanish Grand Prix.
Such unequivocal dominance was not a coincidence. Innovative design features of the engine, especially the placement of the compressor and turbocharger on opposite sides of the engine, provided an advantage in a more compact layout. As a result, engineers had more space to improve aerodynamic efficiency and optimize the use of the hybrid component's battery.
By the mid-season break, Mercedes had won all Grand Prix except Canada, where the title went to Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull. The Constructors' Cup was secured prematurely by the Germans at the Russian Grand Prix, the 16th race of the season (symbolizing).
In total, in nineteen races, the "F1 W05 Hybrid" achieved sixteen victories (eleven by Hamilton and five by Rosberg), eighteen pole positions (seven by Hamilton and eleven by Rosberg), and twelve fastest laps (seven by Hamilton and five by Rosberg).
Lewis Hamilton called the "F1 W05 Hybrid" the best car he had ever piloted.
